Patrick's Birthday (who cares...)

I cannot believe that after a few clicks, I will have TWO blog posts dedicated to my arch nemesis, Patrick Welsh. ughhh...I'll try to keep this short and sweet.

So Patrick had his like millionth birthday a couple weekends ago. Basically Patrick is the [crotchety old] grandfather of our group. He is even older than Josh, y'all. It's kind of embarrassing that we hang out with him...but we just do it out of charity to make him look good.

In fact, he is sooooo old that we [reluctantly] gave him a Shoney's gift card and a bingo set for his birthday and he was thrilled.

And what do you do for "fun" for an old man's birthday? duh-you go bowling.
Josh was thrilled.

So we got to the good ol alley at 4 PM (about an hour before birthday boy's bedtime), and it was packed! So we hit up the happy hour while we waited for a lane to clear.

Yes, y'all. I had a baby...in a bar...a bowling alley bar nonetheless.

In all fairness, the accommodations were pretty impressive, and we might make this a regular Friday night thing.

Our reservation was finally called and my friends impressed me in three different ways:

#1 - Birthday boy had his own bowling shirt. He bowled a turkey and he beat me. As much as I hate to admit it, Patrick's game certainly impressed me.

#2 - Camille came outta nowhere and showed them boys how it's really done.  She also bowled a turkey. Camille's skills impressed the heck outta me.

#3 - Pete Perryman is so freaking terrible at bowling, it's actually impressive how embarrassing it was to have him in our group:

In all fairness, we really did have a blast (except for Scottie...he wasn't drinking).

After bowling, we headed to Misaka for some hibachi and sake.

Even old men can have a good time. Happy Birthday, Patrick :)

New Car Post!

So less than a year ago, we traded in Josh's car for a family friendly 4Runner that I think I loved more than I loved Josh. It was so great for toting the pups around, and we even brought sweet Baby Jace home in that little car.

Well...about a month ago some little "you know what" rear-ended our 4Runner going about 55 mph. She didn't even put on her brakes.  It sent Josh flying over two lanes. The "you know what" even hit the car in front of Josh so hard that their airbags deployed too. The best part? She had a suspended driver's license #typical

Josh got banged up pretty darn bad (hospital visits, physical therapy, etc...I won't bore anyone with those details), but thankfully he didn't have any life-threatening injuries. And even more thankfully, Baby Jace and the pups weren't in the car.

I'm not going to lie.  When he sent that picture of the 4Runner on the tow truck, I cried. I loved that sweet car.

The good news? Josh has a very close friend who has been in the car business for years.  Josh has been buying cars from him for almost two decades (he's so old), and Mark always finds us the perfect car. Less than 24 hours after we received our insurance check, Mark had already found us the perfect replacement.

This is Josh's FOURTH white Tahoe he's bought from Mark.  Some things are just meant to be.

The bad news? We took Jace for his first ride, and I think he hated it...oh well :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

First time parent here. Of course I'm going to make sure my firstborn is appropriately dressed for every occasion.  And I am perfectly aware that my second will be lucky to have on clothes at all.  But in the meantime, I have to show off my little lucky charm:

He's a cute little golden nugget :) It only took me 30 minutes and a group text vote to pick out his special leprechaun outfit!

Mom and Dad got all dressed up in green and went to our favorite (and most un-Irish) restaurant, Surin, for the evening.

We had a wonderful evening with our dear friends, Ben, Jess, and Baby Meadow.

And I have to say, I much preferred the sake and sushi over the corn beef and cabbage. Happy St. Patrick's Day :)

Sunday at Mimi's

Sweet baby Jace got to take his very first road trip this past Sunday. We made the hour and a half trek to Johnson City to visit Josh's parents! All of my work traveling during pregnancy must have been good for little man because he sure loves a good car ride!

Jace loved being held by Mimi, Papaw Jackie, and Papaw Dwight. It warms my heart to see how proud the grandparents are of sweet Jace. He has certainly hit the jackpot with a family that loves him.

Mimi especially cracked me up! She was a little "Jace hog" and did not want to let the Papaws hold him. I don't blame her one bit :)

Josh and I finally got to attempt a family shot. Baby Jace does not know how to smile for pictures yet (ugh...we're working on it), so we just ended up doing things his way:

It was so nice to finally be outside on a pretty day. Spring cannot get here fast enough:

And of course Josh spent the remainder of the afternoon doing what he does best:

It was a great visit for all, and we can't wait to do it again soon :)

Grammy's Visit

I've got a pretty freaking cool mom. She's definitely the kind of mom that all my friends love hanging out with. She even made the invite list to my Bachelorette party. She's awesome! But becoming a mother myself, I've developed a much deeper appreciation for her.  She is so loving, supportive, and HELPFUL.

I was thrilled when she told me she was going to visit us for the weekend! As always, we had a blast.

She arrived early Saturday afternoon. I immediately shooed Josh away and "made" him go to Roosters, so Ma and I could run some errands. Baby Jace slept the whole time, but perked up when we arrived at Kohl's. Apparently he knows that half his wardrobe is from there:

We then headed to Casa Don Gallo for some chips and margaritas:

Next on the agenda was a home-cooked meal made by Josh. We invited Bunny and Petey over for the evening (because Mom loves being hit on by younger men #eyeroll).

I fell asleep on the couch. I woke up around midnight and had to pry my child away from his Grammy. She did not want to give him up :)

The next morning, Grammy read to Baby Jace:

We spent the rest of Sunday going on Jace's very first road trip to Johnson City to visit Josh's parents (more on that later this week):

And after weeks of snow and ice, Jace FINALLY got some pretty weather and fresh air:

Unfortunately, Grammy had to say her goodbyes on Monday. We miss her so much and can't wait to see her again soon.

We love you, Grammy :)

One Month Old!

Our little chicken nugget (mmmmm) turned one month old this past Wednesday! My oh my, how time flies - and I don't mind it one bit! I mean...I love him being little and adorable and everything.  But Momma Mo would love to get a solid four to five hours of sleep in a row.

I'm not sure if it's my lack of sleep or personal bias...but I'm pretty sure he's the cutest little man to ever exist on this planet (followed closely by my sweet nephews of course):

We took him to his one month appointment and little man is growing! He's up to 9 pounds, 1 ounce and 21.25 inches long. He is right at the 50% mark for his age.  My sweet average boy - I will take it!!

Yea...check out that diaper job! Y'all - I might be the absolute worst at putting on diapers. Poop EVERYWHERE all the time.

On a side note, I had my very first EVER cup of coffee today. 30 years of just saying no and Baby Jace finally made me cave in. Can't wait to feed him that serving of pumped milk............

oh well :)
