So I recently inherited the South Carolina territory for work, and I couldn't be more excited! The state is full of friendly people, quaint towns, beautiful beaches, and MY FAMILY. A few weeks ago, I headed down there for the entire week to meet my new retailers and explore the state. This is what I encountered:
All. Week. Long.
It did finally clear up for about two hours to enjoy a nice dinner on Lake Murray, but then continued to thunderstorm and flash flood throughout the entirety of the night (and week).
Towards the end of the week, I met up with Josh to do a Baby Jace hand-off so he could spend the weekend at the Wheeler house. He had a total blast. He really loved cheering Sammy on during his swim meet. Well...Jace doesn't really cheer. He more so "angry grunts," but hopefully Sammy took it as a compliment.
One of Baby Jace's favorite things to do was watch The Simpsons with his older cousins and Uncle Tom. Seriously, he loves that show which is good for me because it's still one of my favorites. I'm just hoping he doesn't turn into a Bart once he hits kindergarten.
The Wheeler family watched him during the day while I had to work, and they kept him busy doing dishes and rolling around and being all sorts of cute.
Saturday evening we finally got to enjoy another beautiful evening outside on their back porch.
Looking forward to many, many more trips to sweet South Cackalacky.
The weekend of Garth in Knoxvegas had awesome benefits. The most important one was Jace's time spent with his favorite Auntie Kara and his crazy-fun Grammy.
Kara arrived Friday, and she got to see Jace spend time with his girlfriend, Meadow. They still don't know each other exists, but I think they are absolutely adorable together:
But the cutest part of the night was watching Josh be so sweet and gentle with beautiful Meadow. Maybe there will be a little sister in Jace's future??
The next day we enjoyed a great lunch at our favorite spot, Pero's, while Grammy made the trek this way. Once Grammy arrived, we started pre-gaming for Garth until Jace hit his witching hour. That's when the ladies bailed :)
The next morning, we enjoyed a fabulous brunch at another one of our staple spots: Blackhorse Pub and Brewery. Mom looked way too adorable for a post-Garth Sunday. I guess that's what happens when you get all your liquor snatched at the door........
After a little bit of spit-up and a whole lot of hugs and kisses, Grammy and Auntie had to head back to South Carolina:
Such an unforgettable weekend. Seriously...Garth and family? It really doesn't get any better than that :)
Call me crazy, but I hate live music. That is unless it's freaking Garth Brooks. Y'all...he was amazing. So much energy. So much showmanship. He played all of his old stuff, and it made for such a fantastic night.
Mom, Kara, and Camille came over for some pre-Garth drinks before my wonderful husband dropped us off at Thompson-Boling Arena.
The only downfall of the night is that fact that Thompson Boling is a "dry" venue. Like...who can enjoy a concert sober? So of course, the classy ladies that we are, concocted this great plan to sneak in a few airplane bottles (please don't tell the law). I insisted that Mom find a place other than her boots, but she just didn't listen:
Needless to say, Mom enjoyed the concert perfectly sober.
It really was a memorable night (especially for my sober mother). Josh hooked us up with floor seats on the 20th row. But I'm pretty sure I could have enjoyed that concert even if I was swimming in molten lava. Garth Brooks really is the best:
Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers...and Garth Brooks :)
