Jace finally got over his nasty case of the croup by the last day of vacation, and we were so thrilled to have our child back. On our way back home from the beach, we stopped halfway and got a hotel in Columbus, GA. We let Jace run around to get some energy out, and within FIVE minutes of being at the hotel, he fell....and broke his collarbone.
Of course, we didn't really know it happened right away. It was a normal fall...he didn't really cry, but then all the sudden he got really fussy when we tried to pick him up or change his outfit. We noticed he wasn't moving his arm...and his shoulder was all slumped down.
Two entire days later, we finally took the poor kid to the hospital. The x-rays confirmed that he broke his collarbone. You certainly wouldn't know it by how he was acting though:
Yes, this was my little devil child terrorizing the hallways of Children's Hospital with his broken collarbone. The nurse even said something about not thinking anything was wrong with him until she saw the photos.
The doctor basically said there wasn't a whole lot we could do about it. He said "no jumping off the furniture and no water parks," and it should be all healed up on its own within two to three weeks.
I still felt really bad about the situation. I stopped by the store and got him a little present that his one good arm could play with.
Oh Jacer-pants. I'm sure this is the first of many broken bones. Stay fearless :)
