Upstate New York - Thursday

Thursday was our first full day in New York, and we sure did our best to make the most of it. Instead of catching up on some much needed sleep, we woke up at approximately 6:15 to Senor Blanco, the rooster, screaming at his harem of hens. Personally, I'm not okay with the chicken culture of early mornings and chauvinistic roosters...but it sure got Jace waking up on the right side of the bed.

We then headed out early to run some errands. This is always one of my favorite things to do while I'm up there.  The countryside is just beautiful. There is quite a large Mennonite population, and it is just amazing what they've done for the area. Beautiful farms, flowers, and properties everywhere. And every so often, you get to see them in their horse and buggy riding down the road. These people have life figured out, y'all. I envy the simplicity.

We got back from running errands around noon, and Kara took the boys to the glen. Unfortunately, little man kept me from going this year. Instead, we got to help Grumpy with a little groundhog situation that I won't go into a whole lot of detail about because I'm afraid of PETA.

I spent much of the afternoon experimenting with Jace and his new skill. I had him sitting on every little inch of the property. This one is my absolute favorite:

Bo is totally mad about his ball.

Here are a few others:

Thankfully Gege's sister, Christine, came to Jace's rescue from all the sitting. He looooved being held by her:

That evening, my Auntie Lisa and Uncle Marc came over for dinner and got to meet Jace for the first time.  Lisa has been my Mom's bff since she was a teenager. In fact, I first met the two of them when I was Jace's age. And I don't think much has changed since then:

We also collected a few eggs, passed Jace around a little more...

And finally, Gege used her magic touch to put our little boy to bed.

Sweet dreams, Baby Jace :)
