Last week, I had the absolute pleasure of making my annual trip to Upstate New York to catch up with my Dad and the farm. This was Jace's first (of many) trip to visit my family's little heaven on earth.
Josh had plans in Vegas for the weekend. Tom and Sam were in Tupelo, MS for a huge swim meet. So Jace, Kara, Chase, two of Chase's friends, and I made the long trek together. We headed out Tuesday after work and made a pit-stop in Lexington, VA. Jace BAWLED his eyes out for the first 15 minutes of the car ride, and I about canceled on the trip. Thankfully, Chase, Devon, and Spencer were able to calm him down for a smooth trip the rest of the way.
We got up early Wednesday morning, and finished the the second half of the 12 hour drive relatively drama free (there was an awfully messy outfit change somewhere in Pennsylvania). I'm telling you...those three teenage boys were the perfect entertainment for my 6 month old.
We finally arrived at Grumpy and Gege's farm late-afternoon. And I swear on everything, within 15 minutes of hanging out with Grumpy, my sweet Baby Jace learned how to sit up on his own. It was unbelievable. I seriously had a conversation with my sister that morning...talking about how I was sure it would be another three to four weeks before Jace was sitting up. Pretty sure little man has his Momma in him. He looooves proving people wrong :)

Y'all, this is by far the coolest milestone that we've been through. I felt the need to take about nine bazillion pictures of Baby Jace in various spots. I've posted just a very small sampling. Sitting up is so cool.
Dad and Julie live on a property that they call "Broken Road Farms." It's simply beautiful. I had my wedding reception here, and it was just perfection. They spend a lot of time and sweat on improvements on the farm. Every time I visit, they've done something new with the place. Here are some quick pictures I took:
Simply beautiful.
All that fresh air and new tricks had Baby Jace exhausted. After about thirty seconds of relaxing in his Gege's arms, he was done.
And it was the perfect start to a perfect trip :)
