Emily's Baby Shower

After watching the UT game, we said our quick goodbyes and rushed over to the other side of Knoxville to continue our Saturday at Jeff and Emily's baby shower.

I've been friends with Jeff and Emily for quite a few years now, but the story of how we got close is pretty neat.  Emily and I both used to work at 21st Mortgage in totally different departments. I was headed to lunch one day and noticed Emily walking down the stairs in THE cutest skirt ever. Like...it was so cute, EVEN I complimented her (look...this is a big deal for me as I'm not exactly the friendliest person in the world - strangers make me a little uneasy, so I typically let Josh do all the initial friend-making). Emily was quick to reply "Thanks - hey, by the way, are you from Upstate New York?" Normally, this kind of small talk would annoy the crap outta me, but she was super perky and the question definitely intrigued me. I told her that "actually, yes - my family is from Upstate New York" to which she quickly replied "oh - awesome! Because I'm pretty sure I'm dating your cousin!"
huh?
I immediately did some investigation and come to find out, I have TWO long lost cousins that my parents totally failed to ever mention to me at all. And guess what?? They both lived in KNOXVILLE of all places.  What a friggin' fateful small world! Although I'm seriously wondering what else my parents are hiding from me...
Jeff and Emily are just a fantastic and lovely couple - two peas in a pod - and I always have a total blast with them funneling beers and taking shots doing family-friendly get-togethers.

Anyway, not to get off topic...back to the baby shower! So Emily is about 6 weeks ahead of me in her pregnancy.  She is having a sweet and beautiful (I have no doubts about this) baby girl named Wren. She's gained about half the weight that I have and she is ALL belly and completely just adorable and glowing...ugh, somebody stab me in the eye.

I was dumb enough to take a picture next to her and I'm not even going to post it because I look like a miserable, hot whale next to her tiny limbs and cute belly and perky smile and UGH :)

But here is the happy couple together. I just love them:

and how cute and hilarious is this?  I love my cousin!

It was so great to catch up and talk pregnancy and laugh and all that jazz with the two of them. I can't wait to meet baby Wren!

After the shower, I sulked about not being an adorable preggers like Emily, so of course I immediately ate a cheeseburger (made by a tipsy Josh, always the best!) and mac n' cheese to make me feel better.  It worked...temporarily anyways :)
