First things first, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
but more on that topic later this week...
Second things second, I am typing this blog with a sad and defeated heart as FSU just got completely and embarrassingly annihilated by Oregon in the Rose Bowl. My poor husband :( I'm going to blame it on the fact that we couldn't make it to Pasadena this year to be their good luck charms. Or maybe I'll blame it on the turnovers, poor defense, etc, etc....[sigh]
Third things third, I am also typing this while my boys are playing in the Sugar Bowl (AAAAAND THEY JUST SCORED! #rolltide) - so apologies to the Wheeler family if this post makes no sense!
So....this past weekend, we loaded up the 4Runner and headed to Greenville, SC to spend some quality holiday time with my sister's family (the Wheelers) and my wonderful, kooky momma.
Just to give a quick explanation of the Wheeler family...they have been an utterly important staple in my life since my freshman year in college. Like..(ALABAMA TOUCHDOWN) they have always been my one stable unit in an otherwise completely bonkers world. (dammit...Ohio State just scored). My sister-Kara, my brother-in-law-Tom, and my nephews-Chase and Sam have been there for me in ways that I can never repay.
So heading down to see them is usually a huge highlight in my life. This time around though...I slept, napped, ate, napped again, and slept some more. I tried my darnedest to be of some sort of worth...but I just didn't have it in me. My poor youngest nephew, Sam, was feeling way under the weather too - but I did convince him to go outside with me for a quick second to show off his amazing archery skills! Don't piss this little man off - check out his accuracy:
(and another Ohio State touchdown...ughhhhh I hate 2015 so far)
I also played a little hoops with my oldest nephew until I started wheezing and had to sit down...so for like 90 seconds:
Considering my belly is bigger than a basketball, I did good to make it an inch off the ground.
We went to dinner on Saturday night at mom's restaurant, Breakwater, in downtown Greenville. We enjoyed a scrumptious meal, and then I went straight to bed. The following morning, I finally rolled out of bed at like 11...and mostly because I could smell bacon. Kara/Tom had started putting together a fantastic brunch...even better than my favorite spots in Knoxville!
During brunch, we enjoyed our Christmas tradition of opening our poppers and wearing our crowns and telling everyone lame jokes.
Yea...I don't get it either??
(Ohio State just took the lead...I am feeling postal right now...)
I ended up taking another nap after brunch, we said our goodbyes to my favorite family, and then I napped nearly the whole way home. We love our Wheeler family and are hoping they have us back despite my lack of energy and fun... Can't wait to see them and mom again soon! And so, so, soooo very thankful for our garage beer fridge that they got us for Christmas - it will definitely get its money's worth :)
One last thing...puh-leeeeze, puh-leeeeze, pllleasssse #rolltide :)
